A couple of trophies made their way home to Brixham , courtesy of David white and Will Denham . The handicap tournament held at The Newton Abbot leisure centre was a good day out for BTTC . Will reached the handicap doubles final with playing partner Martin Dilkes, alas they met strong opposition against Dennis Gibbs and co, and it was not their day . Top billing goes to David White who beat numerous competitors to reach the final against the Best player in the South Devon and Torbay table tennis league, Dennis Gibbs . David was brilliant on the day winning three straight and did not not let Dennis work off his handicap , Dennis did not know what hit him ! , David constantly attacked and produced a powerful display of backhand drives and Forehand winners , his power on the forehand was a source of amazement to the onlookers as his frame is so small ! . However he will grow . It was a courageous display against strong and consistant opposition , well done David ! .

Early Season Tournament 27th Nov
Don't forget - it's the Early Season Tournament at the Newton Abbot leisure centre (more commonly known as Dyrons) in Highweek Road. Play commences at 9.30 am, so it's best to get there at about 9.00 for a warm-up.
I've actually entered the Hard Bat competition (as well as the singles and doubles) for the first time, which should be fun because I've never played with a hard bat in my life. Do you think I've got a chance of winning ?
Hoping to see a few of the Brixham Mob down there !

Gazelle has also saved the Blog from certain extinction , and there is no need to banish me from the club either . ( apologies to those club members that have already had kittens posted through their letter boxes , please send them back and I will try to revive them !) .

Sick Again (off Physical Graffiti)
A few of us are out on the town tonight intending to take in a few games of pool and throw some arrows at an appropriate round black thing. I'm going to try and get some practise in for the forthcoming BTTC Christmas Pub Crawl by taking a packet of Jaffa Cakes with me to dunk in my Guiness. This will be a new experience for me, and I have some trepidation as to how it's going to turn out . . . if it's OK then I might try for a 10 pointer by dunking Jammy Dodgers in to a Bacardi and Coke - now THAT will command respect !
Hopefully, I won't be feeling like the title of this Blog

Friends (another Led Zep vol 3 title)
Mick and Alan, as you are the only other members of this Blog Site - I need your opinion.
Should we open the Blog to EVERYBODY, regardless of whether they're Registered or not ? We may get Spammers leaving nasty messages but if I open up your membership to also be Administrators - then between us we should be able to delete anything dodgy before others see it.
What do you think ? At least we might get more BTTC members being able to join in . . .

You Shook Me
Mick asked me to give him a description of the BIG ONE - that's the Roller Coaster at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
I visited the BIG ONE when I went up to Blackpool to pick up my new car (now given the name of The Beast).
It's about 250ft high and is the highest and fastest coaster in Europe. It's also ridden in open cars, so you're just strapped in with a normal seat belt, unlike other extreme coasters that have full restraints. The initial crank up the steep slope seem to take forever, and it gives an opportunity to see the fantastic view across Blackpool. Then it reaches the top - and then it SLOWLY goes over the edge, straight into an almost vertical drop that just takes your breath away. This is where your knuckles try and poke through your skin because you're holding on so tight - a true white knuckle ride.
There follows plenty of twists and turns, all at high speed. Some of the bends pull at over 3G and everyone is shouting and screaming. Awesome. And when it's over, yes you guessed it, straight back on for another go . . . it's certainly better than Nemesis at Alton Towers.
But the Pleasure Beach isn't just about The Big One. There are other high adrenalin rides such as, Avalanche, the Big Dipper, Bling (absolutely amazing), Revolution (you do a full 360 inversion on a coaster and then it does it again, only backwards), Valhalla and Spin Doctor. There are lots of other things for the whole family and they also have live shows (really top quality) during the day. All in all, it's a great day out.
Blackpool itself was awful, full of hen and stag parties, and loads of clubs open all day - horrendous. And the only things to eat along the seafront were fish & chips or burgers. I certainly wouldn't want to go there for a holiday. But a day at the Pleasure Beach was great.
By the way - my favourite ride is Oblivion at Alton Towers. It's absolutely terrifying.

Tea for one
At present there are only three contributors to our Blog , very disappointing really. Quite a few club players and family have had invitations and I would urge those that have considered joining to rethink and join us . This is your chance to tell us what you think of the comittee, and club, and air your opinions . If no one else joins, this facility may close as there won't be much point to it . So come on and join or we will assume no-body wants this service .

Over the hills and Far Away . .

Well, that's where I'm going to be this weekend - Far Away. No table tennis training on Sunday for me. I'm off to Blackpool to pick up my new motor. She's a real beauty and I can't wait to get my hands on her.
For those that don't know, she's a Toyota HiLux Surf 3 litre turbo diesel, just imported from Japan where she's been lovingly looked after by one careful Japanese owner.
Unfortunately, I've got the prospect of a 7 hour train journey to get there. Luckily, I've got my iPod fully loaded with plenty of MP3 music files to while away the time.
I've decided to stay in Blackpool (booked a cheap B&B on the internet) overnight, because it's the last night of the famous Blackpool Lights - so that should be worth taking the camera for - and then on Sunday, I just MIGHT go for a ride on the BIG ONE at the Pleasure Beach - well . . . you've got to havn't you . . if you're there ! I'll probably do it straight after I've eaten my huge full english brekkie . . .
Hopefully, I can work out how to add the photo . .
